What Is The Cause For Swollen And Hard Breasts With Erect And Tender Nipples After Having A Marina Coil Fitted 3 Months Ago?
I had a marina coil fitted 3 months ago, it is my third of these coils. I am 43 and have not had a bleed since the coil was fitted (not unusual for me) . For the past week I have had very swollen and hard breasts, with erect and very tender nipples. Very unusual for me. I have also had a small discharge from my left breast on one day. I have tested for pregnancy last night and it was negative. Worried .

The mirena IUD causes a release of hormones which influence the current hormone levels and this can cause various side effects like: vaginal spotting, sore or tendrr breasts and nipples, irregular menstrual cycles, and so on.
Your presentation would be considered normal, but if this is troubling you then you can speak to your doctor about your options.
