Hi, If repeated sonograms failed to reveal any heart beat in the baby, then it is a missed pregnancy and needs to be evacuated. This can further be confirmed through repeat serum beta-hCG titres every 2-3 days and falling values suggest loss of pregnancy while doubling titres every 2-3 days indicate good progress. Also, the discharge you have is suggestive of a withdrawal bleed; you may also have noticed disappearance of pregnancy symptoms. A missed abortion is a common finding in many first pregnancies and is usually due to a genetic defect and does not generally repeat in later pregnancies. If your doctor still feels that a heart beat may appear at a later stage, chances for which are low with the current symptoms, you may choose to wait. Hope this helps.
