What Is Squamous Cell Carcinoma And The Cost For Its Biopsy?

Recently, my place of employment held a free melonoma check up. I did get checked and the doctor who did examination was elderly besides volunteering his time. Everything checked out good till he got to my back. It was like he struck gold...telling me in a most insensitve way I have a little lump (light red) the size of maybe a pimple and it s definitely what he called squamous cell carcinoma . I ve never noticed it before but I do see it now but can t really get a good look at it being it s sort of between my shoulder blades to the right. I m 57, a smoker and have had some sun over the years being I own a pool. My question is: how much would a biopsy cost and then the cost of removal if needed? Thank you so much for your time.

Thanks for your question.
I am a medical oncologist fellow working in a semiprivate center where cost of every procedure is very less.

It seems you have a small lesion which can be taken out under local anasthesia
and consider to be a outdoor procedure.

The cost would be approximately 2000RS. Pathologist examination will require another 500RS.

If it comes negative nothing is needed and if postive extent of the disease need to be determined andthe cost would be arround 20000-40000.Rs.
