what is junior lanzol prescribed for... My 5 year old / 20 kg kid has been running a fever for 3 days and was on calpol 250 only for one day.. last evening his fever shot up to 103.7 and we took him to emergency, they asked for blood tests to be done for dengue and and we are awaiting results... they said there is a throat congestion and prescribed him augmentin.. of which one dose has been administered. they have asked to give him junir lanzol too.. what is that for? I have mentioned to the doctor that he has green stools for the past few days..but no stool tests have been asked for
Junior Lanzol contains lansoprazole in pediatric dose. It is given to reduce the acid production in the stomach. It was probably prescribed as both Calpol and Augmenting can cause acidity. Your doctor has not asked for stool tests as green stools are considered to be normal. It may be due to the presence of green leafy vegetables, green food coloring, iron supplements etc in the diet. It may also be due to rapid movement of food through the large intestine so that bile pigments are not broken down completely.
Best wishes.
