What Else Besides Cortisone Can Help With Sever Back Pain Around Sacrum?

Hello....I had a major MVA a few months ago and was rearended by a semi. My MRI showed hernaited disks in L4/5 and L5/S1. It also determined severe degenerative disk disease in these same areas. Cortisone and PT has done nothing to alliviate the pain throughout my hip joints and severe back pain around the sacrum. I've also experienced severe weakness and tingling in my legs consistently. To make a bad situation worse, my right leg gave out on me 2 weeks ago as I was decending the stairs and I landed solidly at on the sacrum and to the left, with a huge bruise extending to the left hip. It's quite impressive and I will be having another MRI to determine if there bas been further damage to the disks.

My question is this: since this second fall I have been having extreme diarrhea several times a day and extreme gas that has been very painful. Could there be additional damage as a result of the fall or am I just going through a particularly unlucky several months? Thank you for your time....

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
As for the disc ,probably disectomy (surgical removal) may be indicated. You must have another xray for lower spine with both hips to determine extent of any injury to hip.diarrhea may not be related to it but should be treated by physician as an independent problem.Your spine and hip surgeon should review your case again
