What Dosage Of Zoloft For Depression And Anxiety Can Be Taken In Old Age?
I have been on zoloft for almost 14 years. I feel good. I had suffered from panic disorder, depression and anxiety. I have had no side affects. I am almost 80 years old. Should I be concerned about being on it this long. I take 50 milligrams per day.
hi..thanks for writing..i have understood your concerns..
zoloft can be given up to 200 mg in a day..when person has newly diagnosed depression or anxiety or panic disorder, then it is started at low dose and gradually dose is increased..
once the patient has improved completely on particular dose then the drug shud be continued in the same dosage for few months and then gradually it can be reduced..
you are taking it for last 14 years and you are better on it..this is enough dose for you now which is called maintenance dose..you shud continue the same..it is very safe drug among the SSRI class in old age and does not have significant side effects and interaction with other drugs..
you can also consult your prescribing psychiatrist and discuss your issue..you can also ask for withdrawing the drug..do whatever suits you best..
i hope this advice will be helpful to you.. best of luck,,..
