What Does The Ultrasound Result Showing: Gravid Uterus With Single, Irregular Gestational Sac Within Indicate?

Doctor .. I am 6 weeks 4 days pregnant and my ultrasound shows a gravid uterus with single, irregular gestational sac within. Yolk sac is welldefined. Fetal pole is seen. C.R.L. measures 07 mms. corresponding to 06 weeks, 4 days of gestation. The foetal cardiac pulsations are present. L.M.P. 08.08.2012. E.D.D. by L.M.P. 15.05.2013 G.AGE by L.M.P. 05 W, 6 D. There is evidence of retrochorionic clot measuring 3.4 x 2.6 cms. The decidual reaction is poor. The internal os is closed. Cervical length is 3.9 cms. There are no uterine or ovarian pathologies noted. IMPRESSION : Threatened abortion.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
The interpretation of ultrasound is as follows:
There is some bleeding in the gestational sac.
Bleeding suggests threat of abortion.
If bleeding continues, the products of gestation can dislodge and result in abortion.
The cervical canal is closed thus the pregnancy can be saved.
You need to consult your obstetrician immediately for management.
Rest of the parameters i.e. gestational age, fetal activity, measurements assessing fetal age are within normal range.
The fetus is viable so prompt management can safe the pregnancy else abortion can set.
