What Does Subtle Signal Changes Seen In Deep Periventricular White Matter Mean?

my son is having listening problem. on bera test it shows that he is profound.
but now when we go for brain MRI with cochlea, the reports are as following.
Subtle signal changes are seen in the deep periventricular white matter bilaterally which are hyper intense on T2Wimages and FLAIR images and isointense on T1w sequences. These show no enhancement on the post contrast study. The possibility of these being secondary to demyelination cannot be entirely excluded. Clinical correlation is advised.
There is no midline shift.
The sella, pituitary gland and cavernous sinuses are normal.
The vestibulo-cochear nerve complexes are normal.

Welcome to Health care magic.

1.Demyelination is incorrectly often equated to multiple sclerosis, whereas in reality it is a generic pathological term simply describing, as the word suggests, the loss of normal myelin around axons in the central nervous system.
2.This should be distinguished from dysmyelination where the formation of normal myelin is absent.
3. There are multiple systemic disease causes this condition - so first one has to identify the cause a and treat the cause.
4.These condition on MRI seen as signal intensity changes.
5.Rest of the structures of the brain appears normal.

Hope it helps you. Wish you a good health.
