What Does Multiple Anechoic Cyst In Both Ovaries Mean?

im a 20 year old girl.for past 8 years there was irregularity in my menstrual cycle. it takes 3 month for one cycle. i feel over weight of 61kg. i've tested for thyroid , but its seems to be normal. then i went for ultra sound scanning, result shows "both ovaries have multiple anechoic cyst with central cortex. pls will u clarify what it means

Thanks for writing in.

You might be having Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) which is a chronic anovulation syndrome leading to irregular menstrual cycles. Ultrasound findings alone are not specific, and the diagnosis is made on the combined clinical, biochemical and ultrasound.This is a hormone related condition commonly seen in young girls. The multiple anechoic cyst and central cortex are findings associated with PCOS.

Please consult a gynecologist and take medications for a few months. It is completely treatable.
