What Does Borderline Left Atrium Enlargement In An EKG Mean?

My 15 y/o daughter had an EKG and it said borderline left atrium enlargement. She was there to be treated for Exercise induced Asthma. The inhaler that was prescribed is not working. Symptoms are shortness of breath (even climbing stairs) and throat pain (when running). Is this something to be worried about?
