What Does Anterior And Grade I Placenta Mean?

Hi, I am in my 21st week. I had 'obstetrics ultrasonography' test yesterday.Its been specified that my placenta is ""anterior and the grade is 'I'"". But my last month ultrasound scan report says it was "Low lying".

Kindly clarify the below

1. What is anterior and grade 'I' placenta?

2. What is the difference between anterior and low lying placenta?

3. What all the complications i may face during the delivery?

4. Is normal delivery possible?

5. Is there any methods to make my placenta normal?

Hi, I have gone through your question. Anterior placenta means it is located on the anterior wall of uterus. Placenta matures with advancing pregnancy and maturity is graded as grade 1, 2 and 3. At 21 weeks of pregnancy, it is in early phase of maturity and is thus labelled as grade 1. Placenta migrates upwards in the uterine cavity as the pregnancy advances, so placenta which is seen low lying in early pregnancy, mostly shifts upwards and it is favourable for normal delivery.
I suggest you to not to worry as your placenta is completely normal. There will be no complicationsin ppregnancy and normal delivery is possible. You need not do anything to correct it.
