What Could The Findings In An Early Pregnancy Scan Suggest?

Hello Dr, my name is Edith, i am in my early 40s and discovered that i am pregnant. The ultra scan shows a uterus gravid bulky and seen in antreverted position harboring a single gestation sac with a mean diameter of 12.3mm corresponding to 5 weeks but no fetal pole or yolk sac seen yet. The myometrium is in homogenous in echo pattern. Myoma measuring 32.8mm x 33.2mm. The cervix is closed, the adnexac is free and the culdesac is free also. Please what do all these imply. Thanks

Hello
Thanks for writing to HCM

You need follow up scan after 2 weeks.
There is a single intrauterine gestational sac noted measuring 12.3 mm in diameter corresponding to 5 weeks .
Fetal pole or yolk sac is not seen, present condition only need follow up scan.
Non visualization of fetal part may be due to many reasons like blighted ovum, wrong measurement of fetal maturity, wrong date etc.
There is also fibroid noted in the uterus measuring 32.8 mm x 33.2 mm.
You don't worry about the fibroid.Normal pregnancy is possible with fibroid uterus.
You should consult your gynecologist.
Hope i have answered your query.

Take Care
