What Could Numbness In Limbs, Tingling Of Hands And Lips Indicate?
I have had some random generalized numbness that started in the back of my right knee about three weeks ago, then the bottom of my left foot became numb over this past weekend and at the start of this week I had some tingling in both hands as well as slight tingling on my lips and tongue. Very worried. Just went for a MRI this evening (Head/neck and spine with contrast) to r/o MS. i thought I was having a stroke went to Urgent Care and they recommended an urgent MRI to r/o anything serious. I am praying this is not MS. I have had mono as an early adult. 39 yr old female/no other symptoms of MS...thank you in advance for your insight.

As the brain MRI resulted normal, you should not worry about MS. Anxiety or a peripheral nerve disorder can mimic this clinical situation (besides the tingling in the tongue). A metabolic disorder can not be excluded either. For this reason, I recommend consulting with your GP and performing some tests: - a nerve conduction study for possible neuropathy - thyroid hormone levels for possible thyroid dysfunction - blood electrolytes - complete blood count - vitamin D and vitamin B12 plasma levels for possible deficiency. Hope you will find this answer helpful! Kind regards, Dr. Aida
