Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 68 years old and taking 60 mg of amour thyroid for about a year and - a- half and my skin has become mottled during this time and very dry and wrinkly. Is there anything that can be done about it? My doctor just says "well, you are 68 years old!" But I feel my skin has aged ten years in the last year.
I have some suggestions for your skin but make sure that your doctor has checked your thyroid levels and that they are in normal range as both high and low thyroid levels can cause problems with the skin. First make sure you are drinking at least 48 oz. of water every day and more is better. Avoid drinks with caffeine and alcohol because they are dehydrating. Add a good skin moisturizer like Eucerine cream and use it at least twice a day, especially at bedtime.
