What could be the reason for metallic taste in mouth , SOB and tight chest ?
My wife has a metallic taste in her mouth , SOB and a tight chest . The doctors say that her heart is fine and they go no further. She feels there is something wrong even though her heart is fine but we are having trouble finding a doctor that will dig deeper. Any ideas that we might present to our Family Practice Dr.?

Your wife could be having gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD).Any history of heartburn, regurgitation etc?Has she done any blood tests like thyroid function test or Hemoglobin levels?Sometimes thyroid disorders and iron defeciency anaemia can present with similiar symptoms of breathlessness. Is she on any medication? Certain drugs like metronidazole can cause metallic taste in the mouth. Is she suffering from anxiety/depression? By SOB do you mean shortness of breath? Any dental/gingival problems? Any respiratory infection including tonsillitis?These are the common causes I can think of. Hope this helps. Kindly get back to me if you have any further queries.
