Hello,

Do not share drinks, toothbrushes or utensils with others. Wash your hands before eating and after using the bathroom. Avoid touching your face, nose, or mouth every now and then. Common cold or bacterial infection causes tonsillitis. Viral infection clears out in a week, only symptomatic treatment is given. But bacterial infection is treated with antibiotics.

Enlarged spleen may be indicative of infectious mononucleosis. Get clinically examined by an ENT to detect mononucleosis. Your treating doctor will recommend surgery, tonsillectomy for tonsillitis associated with mononucleosis. Avoid doing heavy or strenuous work. Stay at rest. You can take vitamin supplements.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
