Hi,

Saw palmetto has been shown to be effective in the treatment of benign hypertrophy of prostate by shrinking the size of prostate and improvement in prostate related urinary symptoms. No major side effects have been reported, while being used orally. However, mild side effects like nausea, headache, dizziness, constipation or diarrhea may be seen, but most of these are transient and go by themselves with time or at the most with stoppage of drug.

As, it has been alleged to be having a beneficial effect on liver and spleen also, therefore, it may be a possibility of having its effect on spleen also. However, I will not like to comment, if it is so, then whether this effect on spleen is beneficial or not, as not much studies are available of its effect on spleen.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
