What Could Be The Reason For Having Hyperinflation Without Infiltrates In Chest X Ray?
My son-in-law has had a nagging cough for a couple of months and had a chest x-ray today showing hyperinflation without infiltrates. He has never smoked in his life. What could have caused this and what does it mean? He is only 38 years old. Thank you.
Hi, Hyperinflation is most of the times seen in Obstructive airway diseases like Asthma or COPD. If he is a non smoker, does he have history of any other occupational dust exposure, any past h/o respiratory symptoms? PFT is required to be done. Please get him evaluated by a Pulmonologist.
