What Could Be The Reason For A Black Discharge During Periods?
I had a tubal ligation done almost 2years ago my periods are very heavy and always on time, last month it was 2 days early very heavy, this months only 2 and a half days very heavy, now I ve been just spotting very light pink with cramping, now I m having darkish almost black discharge what s going on??

Fluctuations in the flow and duration of menstrual flow can be seen due to many causes. Like:
-Psychological factors like stress and strain
-Changes in diet, weight, sleep, etc.
-Hormonal imbalance like in Poly cystic ovarian disease, thyroid abnormalities
-General causes like anemia, blood sugar fluctuations etc.
As this is the first time you are having the problem, you can wait and watch. The dark color of the discharge usually indicates collected blood in the uterus.
If the same problem repeats in next menstrual cycles, you may need evaluation. In that case, please consult your Gynecologist once, get examined and go for investigations like:
-Complete blood picture
-Blood sugar levels
-Thyroid profile
-Serum prolactin levels
-Ultrasound
With this work-up the possible cause of the problem can be identified and treatment can be planned accordingly. General measures like taking healthy, balanced diet, regular calorie burning exercise can help in regularization of menstrual cycles.
