What Could Be The Painful Lesion On The Side Of Tongue Which Pains While Gargling?

I have had a extremely painful lesion on the sode of my tonge for about 3 or so weeks now. The dr looked at it breufly and told me yo gargle wth salt. However that hurts so bad I can't! I honestly do not believe it's an ulcer. It's hard to the touch and under the tongues skin, and it seems to indented. I'm starting to worry because us not getting better, it actually feels more painful then it did in the beginning. I read online about stds, and that's not an issue either. Could you please give me some guidance or suggestions to go on. I have so many medical problems and already take around 13 medications currently, I cannot afford. Any input will be appreciated. Thank you

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi. The good thing is that the cancers are usually painless to start with, although this pain does not rule it out. There are many conditions which can not be diagnosed until biopsy is done. You say you already are suffering from many medical problems. It is better you show this to an ENT surgeon. This can be just a foreign body reaction ( pain +++) .
