What Causes Throat Tightness With Bilateral Ear Pain?

I have been experiencing throat tightness that comes and goes, sounds weird but mostly on the weekends. When the tightness happens, I do experience bilateral ear pain. I feel as though I need to clear my throat alot. I have been seen by my PCP and was given an antibiotic and a depo medrol shot. Nothing seems to help. I have also had my thyroid bloodwork, which was normal. I have had a CT scan of the soft tissue of my throat, which was normal. What could this be??

Hi.
Thanks for your query and an elucidate history.
Since you have this problem mostly on weekends suggests that you are working in an environment that is giving you an allergic problem.
The tightness of the throat can cause a referred pain in the ears .
The thick sputum makes you feeling something stuck and hence the need to clear the throat.
