What Causes Tachycardia During Sporting Activities?
hi, sometimes when i am playing sport i and i get tackled or some physical activity my heart starts to race really fast and i feel like shit, i have recorded it one time and it was at 200 beats per minute, one thing that i found was that if this happens i hold my bicep on one of my arms really tight and then after about 20 mins of that it goes back to normal, i am about to start playing sport again and i dont want this to happen. any ideas on what it is? cheers
Hi,welcome to HCM, Exercise induced tachycardia,is quite a normal phenomenon, but rates as high as 200bpm needs further evaluation like an Holter ECG and an 2D echocardiogarphy can accurately assess any structural lesions of heart particularlry HOCM-hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, which causes dynamic obstruction to blood flow during exercise.drugs like b blockers can control the heart rate.consult your cardiologist for further queries, thank you
