What Causes Swollen Hands After Inserting Promethazine Into The Hand For Migraine?
Went to E.R. for migraine, they put a port in my hand and pushed (without IV solution)Promethazine, Morphine, and Dilaudid. Within 12 hours my hand was swollen 3 times it s normal size. It is still swollen and the joints ache in my hand. I told the nurse it was burning 3 times, but he ignored me. I am very concerned about the Promethazine being pushed into my hand.

To get relived from headache, you have given three injections. All are great anagesics cum sedatives. May be you were suffering from sever headache.
As your concern regarding your swollen hand of IV line site. As per your details, it seems that the injections which were given via IV, got extravasated into soft tissue rather going into Intravenous that may be the reason of your swollen hand. This can be due to any one injection gigen to you. There is no any specific sign of Promethazine.
So in my opinion, kindly apply Thromboflob ointment on affected areas and keep your hand against gravity to reduce the swelling. If there is a pin then you can give some anagesic tablets for this. Do not worry much about Promethazine injection.
