What Causes Swelling In The Hands Post Birth Control Patch Withdrawal?

Yes, I ve been on some type of birth control pill since I was approx. 26 yrs. old & then was placed on a patch when I was going thru memopause at approx. 40/45 yr. old. Now I am 78 and abt 2-1/2 yrs. ago was taken off the patch (as insurance wouldn t pay for it). I have gone to one PA & my hands swelled up so bad that I couldn t write, etc., etc. and felt terrible. After nearly a year I went to another doctor & he gave me the similar medicine & I started loosing my memory and having all sorts of problems. Is their anyway I can go back on a patch as I had no problems with them???? YYYY@YYYY

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It may be due to local allergic response to the patch. But the memory issues may not be related to it. However, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
