Hi,

According to your description the possibilities are:
- Bartholin cyst which occurs due to the blockade of the Bartholin gland duct. Can present at the labia majora and extended up to the labia minora.
- Rarely lesions like folliculitis by involving the label tissue, leading to inflammation can form swelling.

By clinical examination only the exact cause of the problem can be identified and treatment can be taken accordingly. So, please consult your gynecologist once and get examined. In either of the above cases initially systemic antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs can help in relieving the symptoms. If the lesion persists or recurs even after taking antibiotics, in case of Bartholin cyst sometimes marsupialization or removal of the cyst may be required.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sree Gouri S. R., OBGYN
