What Causes Spotting Of Blood While Coughing During Pregnancy?

After catching a virus last week (chills, throwing up, fever) i ve been left with a violent cough for 3 days now. I was coughing so hard I d have urinary incontinence problems. Today i noticed some spotting. Is it possible to spot from coughing? I m 23 weeks pregnant and freaked out.

Yes you certainly can bleed a little from coughing very hard... this is not harmful as long as the bleeding turns brown and gets lighter over time. However there are cough medications that are safe to use during pregnancy that may help your symptoms. I suggest you speak with your OB provider about your options.
