What Causes Sore Throat, Swollen Tonsil And Difficulty In Swallowing?

Hi, i am a 19 year old girl , 8 stone and have no serious medical history. I have had a sore throat for a couple days now and have noticed that on my right side my tonsil is all swollen and looks all lumpy. It hurts to eat and swallow and even hurts when i touch the right side of my neck. Do you have any idea what it could be ?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi, thanks for your query. In my opinion, you might be having infection of your tonsil.
If I were your treating doctor, I would have prescribed penicillin antibiotics + anti inflammatory medicines for 5 to 7 days.
Avoid cold and oily foods.
Betadine mouth gargling also can help you.
All these are prescription medicines, so I would advise you to consult with the doctor and get tested. Empirically you can take anti inflammatory medicines like paracetamol + diclofenac combination drugs.
Hope my answers have helped you. Thanks.
