Sore throat x6 days on one side. Swelling. Pain in ear. 100 fever. Neg for mono, CBC normal. Tonsil abscess ruled out by doctor. States this is viral. Is it possible for symptoms to worsen as a virus at this point? Today is first day of fever. Blood was drawn this morning. Thank you.

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi,
If your doctor has already told its viral, then it will subside on its own with symptomatic treatment, only in some cases patient's can have secondary bacterial infection, and your ear pain is referred pain from throat, I guess your doctor mhas already started you on antipyretics, decongestants. You can also start salt water gargle (water should be lukewarm), after each feed, take care.
