What Causes Shooting Pain From Ears To Neck And Swelling Around Neck?

Hi Doctor i am a female aged 45 years ..suddenly in the morning i had a pain shooting down from my ears down to my neck .it subsided but again the evening the irritating throbbing pain started ..there is a slight swelling ..very slight swelling around neck area down from my ear area ..is it mumps or something ..i have taken an aspirin

Differential diagnoses of pain in ear with swelling and radiating to neck are infection/inflammation of external ear due to fungus/bacteria,cellulitis,parotitis/mumps,lymph node inflammation.Some conditions in oral cavity like tonsillitis,pharyngitis,lesions in tongue also cause pain in neck with swelling radiating to ear.Take pain killers sos basis and if persisting consult your gp.
