What Causes Severe Stomach Pain And Burning Sensation?

Hello. I have been suffering from some extreme stomach pain on the right side. It almost feels like my stomach is disintegrating, like its burning in acid or something. I don't have any heartburn, etc. The pain wakes me up at night and I have been to the ER, etc and nothing. I was given percocet and the last doctor I saw wrote a script for stomach spasms, which seems to be helping. She thinks it is H pylori but I have had several blood tests, wouldn't something have shown up by now?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood your concerns.
Severe extreme pain on the right side can not be due to H pylori as a common cause. burning can be due to acidity.
But then it is usually in the midline or on the left side.
Hence it would advisable to go for the following things to get a proper diagnosis and a plan for proper management.
Upper GI Endoscopy and biopsy.
Tests of blood and stool.
Ultrasonography of the whole abdomen and CT scan if required.
Clinical evaluation by a General Surgeon will help for the clinical diagnosis to be supplemented by the reports and thus get a plan of treatment.
In the meantime get started on a PPI like Omeprazole.
Antacid every three hourly particularly when on empty stomach.
Antispasmodic will be better that Percocet as this is just a painkiller and not a true antispasmodic.
Additional management will be as per the response to the basic medicines and reports of the investigations.
