What Causes Ringing In Ears?

age 62 female.I thought I had touched the "answer" button on my cell and put it to my ear. It rang again, very loudly in my ear.It hurt for about 3 seconds and stopped but now I have a metal sound in my ear, when around higher pitched voices, my own voce, going over a bump in the road or coughing and clearing my throat. I do not have any hearing loss or drainage. It this maybe a bruised drum and time will take care of it?
