What Causes Redness In Eye And Sensitivity To Light?

My right eye is red, and can harly open it in the dark, but once someone turns on a light or something bright my eye automatically shuts because it hurts. I cant even open the other eye in the light because it effects my other eye. I think it might be my pupil but I'm not quite sure. It also hurts if I rub it or press down on my eye. Another is my head hurts around that eye no where else.
