What Causes Red Eye And White/yellow Discharge?

Hi, a couple nights ago my 5 year old woke up from his nap and said that he had a headache and stomach ache. Later that evening he had a 101 fever gave him Motrin and was fine. I also noticed in his right eye that it was red and had white/yellow stuff coming out. Fast forward two days later my 3year old son has the same thing in his eye but also has an ear infection and a cough. He is on amoxicillin. Does my other son have to be on an antibiotic for this eye thing that is going on or is it a virus?

Hello
It seems from the history that your both children are having infective conjunctivitis.
Hence both require treatment by the use of antibiotic eye drops. The symptoms of redness, watering and discharge from the eyes indicate infective conjunctivitis usually bacterail and require treatment by the use of antibiotics. Hence I advice you to consult your doctor for examination and treatment accordingly.

Thank you
