What Causes Rectal Bleeding And Stomach Aches?

My friend s symptoms come in 2-4 day spurts and have been going on for years.....rectal bleeding, serious stomach ache, feels better when he throws up (but nothing really there), spit sometimes has greenish hue to it, lots of belching, mild diarrhea, worse in the mornings. Doctor did not find anything, but when this hits him he has a hard time functioning for those 2-4 days. Any ideas?
