What Causes Radiating Pain In Chest, Upper Stomach And Sickness?

Hi, My daughter was admitted to hospital via a and e in December with pleurisy and gastroenteritis. she was experiencing radiating pain in her chest and upper stomach. she had a fever, and although this is no longer present, her chest and stomach remain painful to the touch, to the extent that she is unable to maintain her job and is often on sick leave. she cannot find a comfortable position to relieve the pain. We went back to a and e once, where various tests were completed including an x-ray, and to the Gp a few times, but they cannot find anything wrong, other than she is still in a great deal of pain. I have been looking online at possibilities, including Pericarditis, but there does not seem to be a clear idea of what could be wrong. This is very debilitating for her. do you have any ideas?

Thank you for your question! I understand your concern, and based on what you explain it doesn't seem that the pain has nothing to do with the heart muscle;not even with the pericardium as you say that it is triggered or aggravated by chest wall and epigastrum (stomach) palpation; nevertheless chest pain differential diagnosis is a very complex chapter, and I recommend some blood tests: PCR, complete blood count to notice the level of the remained inflammation; after that as you have performed some radiological exams without clear conclusions I recommend you a CT scan of thorax to study the whole structures of chest wall (including ccosto-condral joint, etc); pleural continuity; pericardium and so on.
Hope to have been helpful to you. Best wishes by Dr.Iliri
