What Causes Persistent Pain After C-section?

I had a c section 3 and a half months ago. And I still feel some pain. I have some sharp pains suddenly and now I feel a bit of tenderness and warmth. It s not extremely painful but I want to know if that s normal and if its healing pains? Also I have lost feeling of some of my skin underneath my belly button. Will it come back or will it be permanently numb?

Hi thanks for your question.
There should be no pain three and half months after C section. If pain is still persistent three and half months after C section it needs certain investigations. First and for most important is a physical examination by the consultant gynecologist to rule out any residual focus of infection, any foreign material like thread used during stitching An ultrasound of the pelvic organ may reveal any underlying pathology as a cause of this pain. Loss of sensation below umbilicus that is belly button could be due to damage to any superficial cutenous nerve near umbilicus which happens during any surgery and get cured of itself in most of the cases. Need not to worry for this.
Hope this answers your quest
