What Causes Pain In The Neck & Spinal Cord?

I've been having pain near my right neck exactly at the start of spinal cord, to scapula, radiating to right Hand. I had MRI scan done and doctor said my spine looks perfect. I was advised to take 3 days bed rest . I joined back my work yesterday (I'm an IT Professional). Since yesterday I'm having pain again . It reduces if i lay on bed. If my spine is normal, wat could be th reason for this. Please advise
