What Causes Pain At The Xiphisternal Region After Having Meal?

Dear Dr, I have recently been diagnosed with Gastric mucosal prolapse @ OG junction. With a history of Grade 2 Reflux esophagitis 6 years ago. In recent visits with my doctors are confusing me rather giving solutions. My general complaint is: 1. Diffuse pain at the xiphisternal region after having meal(especially in sitting posture) I must confess that i was a avid spicy(fat) food eater until a month back. Thanks in advance for your reply

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is due to severe acid reflux and gastritis.
As first-line management you can take antacids like omeprazole or pantoprazole for symptomatic relief.
If symptoms persist better to consult a gastroenterologist and plan for an endoscopy.
Avoid spicy foods also.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
