What Causes Pain And Numbness On The Foot With A History Of Avascular Necrosis?

I tripped on the stairs 4 mos ago. I havebeen dianosed w/ avascular necrosis and broken sesaamoid bone in the foot. Am now in a boot and spending less time on my fet. However, after 4 mos of this condition my foot is now swelling, i am having pain in my foot other than the injured/ damaged area and the skin which used to get bluish is now red. I am getting wierd numbing and electric sensations in my toes, especially the tip of the big toe. The other nighr before all the swelling began i had a feeling of pressure which made me want to stick aneedle in my toe to relipeve- which i didn't do and that feeling of pressure has since passed. I called podiatrist and they told me to ice and rest. Do i need to be concerned at all about circulation, gangrene, etc. If so whattype of Dr do i need to see?
