What Causes Nausea, Gagging, Slight Bleeding, Diarrhea, Flatulence After An Abortion?
Hi, I recently had a vaccuum aspiration abortion and after taking the anti-biotic doxycycline now when i try to eat and swallow i get nauseas and start to gag although when i do swallow the food stays down i am a little concerned, also after the procedure i had very little bleeding the same day and now i only see light pinkish blood when i wipe after urinating, i also have extreme gas and some diarreah...should i seek medical attention?

Understand your concern
nausea , gaging , diarhhoea and flatulence may be due to side effects of medicine before the vacuum aspiration.
It will disappear gradually after 3-4 days, Bleeding is very slight after surgical abortion as whole pregnancy product has been removed once at a time.
Normally bleeding will stops in 3-4 days as uterus come back to normal body environment.
You should consult the gynecologist if bleeding continues after 7 days also.
If bleeding continues it may be infection or retain product of pregnancy (should be confirmed by USG scan).
If it will found removed by taking misoprostol or D & C.
Take small frequent diet rather than large meal, take tablet dizene for gas, tablet Pan-D for nausea, take balanced diet with iron supplements, rest for 48 hour than gradually start walking like exercise.Continue your doxycycline to prevent infections.
