What Causes Mood Swings With Hysterectomy?
I am 63, been in menopause for 6 years and just had a complete hysterectomy 5 days ago....I have been very emotional and weepy in these past 5 days....could the removal of the ovaries be contributing to this, even though they stopped regulating my moods years ago???? Is it true that a full hysterectomy can shorten the longevity of a woman s life?

Hysterectomy is major surgery and the recovery can be associated with stress, depression and mood swings. Hysterectomy does not affect the longevity or predisposition to some disease if the ovaries are intact.
