I had two lumbar puntures in 1986 and have have back problems ever since. During my procedure i lost feeling in my leftr leg and had to have the procedure repeated by another person. with better results. After words when i sat up i began to vomit and was assisted home. i had a 1 1/2 years of physical therapy forr my lower back and given a back brace to wear. I loose control of my bowles, lots of lower back pain when i am in astanding position for more tham 5 minutes, shooting pains down my leg. Hello,

The lumbar puncture is not related to the bulging disc in this region. You should know that the lumbar puncture is not performed in this region. Considering your symptoms, which are suggestive of lower spinal nerves damage, I recommend consulting with a spinal surgeon and discussing about surgery.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
