What Causes Itching In The Vagina After The Periods?

Every month after my periods get over, I get this strong scratchy feeling in my vagina or vulvas. Assuming it to be caused due to unhygienic problem, I have started washing myself during showers with bath soap (although alternate products for use in the private parts are available) and change pads upto three times daily on period days. In need of immediate help :\

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think the problem may be a fungal infection. It may be mainly caused by Candida albicans.

You can use antifungal suppositories or creams such as Monistat or Cotrimoxazole 5 ml for 5 days.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Olgeta Xhufka , General & Family Physician
