What Causes Bump On Labia Majora After 2 Days Of Sex?

hi, i had sex two days ago and yesterday i noticed a small bump on my labia majora. It doesn't hurt nor does it itch. I have been shaving a lot down there and Im not sure if its an ingrown hair or an irritation. It looks like a mosquito bite. What do you think it may be?

Hello,

You had sex two days ago. Presently, you noticed a small bump on the labia majora. Bumps on the labia majora are commonly caused due to blockage of sweat glands, ingrown hairs, folliculitis, pimples due to hormonal changes, genital warts or STD. You are suggested to take care of your hygiene, take regular bath and shower. Wear soft cotton clothes, change clothes and undies regularly.

While shaving your genital hairs be very careful. Reduce the frequency. Do not douche your vagina or use scented lotions or bathing products. You can apply an antibacterial cream on the affected area. it should go away with time. Do not pick, scratch or touch. Avoid sex or any sexual activity for a coupe of days while you are getting treated.

If you are uncomfortable, visit ER or a health care provider, the ingrown hair will be pulled out gently. After the process is completed, antibacterial cream will be applied to prevent the bacteria from infecting it. Get clinically examined and get STD tests done to stay on the safer side as you are sexually active. If reports are found positive, it will be treated with antibiotics/antivirals.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
