What Causes Irregular Vaginal Bleeding Inspite Of Being On Microgestin Fe?

Hi, I am on my second pack of Microgestin fe. I took the first placebo pill today. 4 weeks ago I had my period for 5 days. 2 weeks later, i started spotting/bleeding for another 2 weeks. It finally stopped just this past friday. Wiped myself last night and this morning, had very light brown discharge. Would I still get my period? Is there a chance of pregnancy?

Hello,
Here are a few facts. The use of hormones in itself can cause some imbalance and this can result in irregular menstrual patterns. This persists until the body adjusts itself to the new hormone levels. This is why during the initial months of pill usage many have this irregularity which spontaneously corrects in a couple of months. Also, additional protection is needed in the first 2 months of pill usage. Otherwise failure is possible. In the current scenario, you need clinical evaluation, blood test for pregnancy and a trans-vaginal sonogram. Hope this helps.
