What Causes Intestinal Blockage After Having Hysterectomy?

My wife just had a hysterectomy and after a week being released she is now back at the hospital due to an intestinal blockage. Note, my wife does have cancer. We have been here for one week and they are just giving her morphine for the pain as they believe it will work its self out. Need a second opinion

Hi, There are 3 possibilities for the ileus/ obstruction .
1. Her surgery might have involved moving her gut around and since the gut is sensitive it will strike for some time and with rest it will function again in a few days .
2.Her cancer could have spread to the gut and block it .
3.Her potassium could be low and so her gut is not moving .

A CT of abdomen will be done and if no physical block is there then give gut time will releive the symptoms.

Will be happy to review .
