What Causes Herpes Infection?

I just got told that I have herpes. They said i was a carrier, they found it through an std screening. I have never had any cold sores or genital issues in my life...and I am 52 years old. My husband whom I am recently separated from, always had what he called cysts in his groin that would cause pain and burst. could this be where I got it from, and why don t I show any symtoms (not that I want any but...) it really confuses me

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

Herpes infection is more common than is made to believe. You might have got infected from your husband and his blisters in the groin might have been herpes eruptions. Please do not worry about it and take antivirals to treat the symptoms you have. It is difficult to eradicate herpes entirely out of your system but you can control symptoms during out breaks by taking antivirals.
