What Causes Heavy Bleeding With Clots During Pregnancy?

Hello. My name is Ci Arra. I am 16 years old. Ive been pregnant for about a month & a half. I had light brownish pink bleeding. I only seen it when I wiped. About a week later I started bleeding. It was dark brown & light. So, I wasnt worried about it. Then, the next day the bleeding was heavy, red, & had clotts. My breasts no longer are tender, but I still have slight cramping. Could it be implantation bleeding, or a miscarriage?

hello ci arra
going through your symptoms, it is a high probability that you have had miscarriage.
implantation bleeding is not so heavy. it will be spotting like but never with clotts.
if i were your doctor i would advise you to do a vaginal sonography to know if you have had a complete abortion.
so do check out with a gynec to confirm.
hope my answer helps you

OBGYN Dr. Madhuri N Bagde's  Response
Hello Ci Arra and thanks for the query,

The history that you provide is more in favor of a miscarriage. Implantation bleeding usually occurs around the time when the period is missed. That is, it occurs about 4 weeks after the last normal period. You are already a month and a half pregnant so this is more likely to be an abortion.

I suggest that you see your doctor and get examined as well as get an ultrsound scan done to look for the status of the baby. If it is alive then drugs like progestogens helps in preventing abortion. Also in case there is an abortion, sometimes a few bits of the pregnancy remain inside and may need to be removed.
So please see your gynec as soon as possible.
Take care.
Hope this satisfies your query.
