They are trying to diagnois it as just migranes. But, the blurred vision and the headaches are at different times. and more frequent. What does he need? a full hormone panel work up? what about the blurred vision? How do i find out if it's pressing on the optic chiasm?

Hi
Welcome to Health care magic

Blurred vision and headache indicates refractive error. The treatment of this condition is by refraction and correction and wearing spectacles. Since the blurring of vision is not constant migraine also needs to be ruled out. Hence first your son/daughter needs eye test to rule out refractive error and later needs to consult pediatric doctor to rule out migraine.

You need to consult your doctor for examination and treatment.
