What Causes Hardening Of The Tongue?

what causes hardening of the tongue? I am 48 yrs old, smoke 1 pk a day, am 5'3, and approx 200lbs. I recently had a partial glossectomy to r/o CA, (this was 2 wks ago). I now feel some hardening of the same side of the glossectomy. My tongue still is numb on the same side as well. Thanks so very much!

Hello,

It may be common after post glossectomy, due to radiation or chemotherapy or nerve damage gives a numbness if the tongue. But please follow with your doctor for regular checkups and biopsy to rule out recurrence of the disease.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
